A few days before leaving for our holiday, we stood eye to eye in the Audi Brussels showroom with the magnificent 2012 Audi R 18 e tron Le Mans winner...
Summer time is here again, and with that comes the time to enjoy open air motoring, and of course to saviour also a few kilometres behind the wheel of our beloved classic car(s).
Recently I celebrated the christening of my granddaughter Khloé, and this was the occasion to get the Jaguar Mk 2 Type S out again. What a joy to hear the deep roar of the big six cylinder XK engine, to smell the faint odour of leather and gasoline, to look at the beautiful Smiths instruments.
The Jag is utterly reliable after its mechanical check up by De Ridder, let it be said!
The Z3 does not miss a beat either, we took the car on an extended tour through Holland, of course also enjoying the fresh open air...(see photo below).
On my holiday to France, I will sit behind the wheel op a Fiat Dobló Maxi, and there to other faithful soldiers will await me: the Suzuki Samurai, which we took to France a few years ago. You can read the report of this trip on our site, we just give you the link here…
Then there is also a new Beetle cabrio, with its very smooth and willing 1,4 litre petrol engine, which delivers a very sedate 75 horsepower. Do we need more? Of course not, the torque characteristics of this engine are excellent, and when you really want to enjoy open air motoring, moderate speeds is all you need…We already showed you a photo of my black Beetle on our site...just click here for the link!
Before going on holiday, we stood eye to eye with the 2012 Le Mans winner, the Audi R18 e-tron in the showroom of Audi Brussels, and what an awesome car this is. We will write a special report about this “bolide”, which combines latest Diesel race-engine technology with kinetic energy recuperation system, and hybrid four wheel drive. The car was shown “dans son jus” with the insects, rubber and fine dust of the race kilometres still on its bodywork, and certainly looked very impressive.
Also few days before leaving for our holiday in France, we strolled in Knokke alongside the beach, and came eye to eye with a BMW beach display, and also some very artfully decorated vintage beach cabins, and of course we include them here, just to get you in the right holiday mood…
Until soon, and enjoy some exquisite holiday motoring!
