Friedrich Geiger, the quiet man with the Mercedes production styling crayon…

Our Story about Uhlenhaut has triggered some further research by Dr. Jozef Ernst, Heritage PR of Daimler AG in Stuttgart, and he found in his archives some remarkable pictures and drawings of Mercedes Production Cars from the hand of Friedrich Geiger.

Dr. Ernst found the above portrait of the quiet, not very outspoken man.

Friedrich Geiger remained mostly in the background, which is also evident on the above picture, where You see him standing in white overall (but with tie and matching handkerchief!) behind the 3 other men, being from left to right, Karl Wilfert, Fritz Nallinger (seated) and designer Paul Bracq.

A more detailed story about the role of Friedrich Geiger will follow soon on this page…

We show You here already some intriguing drawings from the hand of Friedrich Geiger, as from the 300 SL in roadster version, with a special version of the roofline, which however has never seen actual production.

Another drawing is found of the famous "Pagode" SL, albeit still without the typical "Pagode" roofline… but translating already the ideas of Paul Bracq about drivers' visibility, with low waistline and large glass surface areas.

On the picture below You see a detailed rendering from his hand of the W108/109 series coupé version

Dr. Ernst is also further researching in the relationship between Rudolf Uhlenhaut , Alfred Neubauer and Fritz Nallinger, which will prove to be fascinating indeed and we will keep You informed about his findings on this site!
