The original "Polizia" Giulia's were present in Assen...
The ink has barely dried on my story about the history of the Giulia, and look there is another event about the Giulia which merits attention in our columns: the Spettacolo Sportivo organised on May 5-6 by SCARB, the Dutch Alfa Romeo Club, or, “Stichting Club Alfa Romeo Bezitters”, which was this year totally dedicated to the anniversary of our beloved Giulia.

Needless to say, I was completely transported again when I stood eye to eye with the unique olive green Polizia Giulia’s. The Italian Alfa Club Lampeggiante Blu had brought a selection of classic Alfas from the Polizia and Carabinieri to Assen.

On the 2 days there was besides the unique display of cars, where I also met “my” Giulia Super which I drove with my father to Monza in the typical metallic colour, a parade and last but not least the opportunity to do some good solid high speed driving on the fantastic Assen TT circuit.
A Giulia Super was also present in exactly the same colour as "My" Giulia, which I drove to Monza...
Of course, there were also the classic activities like the Sports Class and Driving Skills Improvement Class. Also this year a Slalom competition was organized.

For the participants who thought the Classes were too much of a good thing, a couple of hot laps the Gruppo Europa Sport was always a good alternative, and the real diehards had a go in the Gruppo Europa Crono.
Two Giulia breaks were ready to provide "Soccorso Stradale", but this was hardly needed of course...
I just let you enjoy the photos here, taken on a cloudy, but thankfully a dry day, which proved excellent to celebrate this car which taught me the first real lessons about high speed driving.
Some good wine bottles to take home and remember this magnificent weekend... and yes, what is holding the gentleman in the background? The beautiful isntrument cluster of the Giulia Super, which I admired so much speeding on the Autobahnen and Autostrada's on the way to Monza...
Indeed, behind the wheel of this car, I tasted for the first time the immense joys of true European Gran Turismo, something we can all forget about nowadays…
