The model in the box evokes the colour schemes used for the publicity and marketing action of the "real" car...
The new MiTo inspires young and old, and it is not surprising that the model car manufacturers are already launching beautiful models of the car. A very nice looking 1/24 metal die cast is made by Mondo Motors, situated in Alba, Italy.
The emblem and typical grille match closely the original...
The model car manufacturer presents the car in a nice looking box which evokes the grey background which is used as backdrop for the publicity shots, and indeed this makes a nice photograph of the model car, as the accompanying picture amply shows. The interior of the model is moulded in black plastic, as is the engine bay. No additional details are painted, but everything is quite well detailed. The steering wheel turns with the front wheels, and also the alloy wheels of the original car are well worked out and the proportions are just “right”.

The rear end also looks just "right"...
Paint finish is good and the color matches very well the original metallic colour of the “publicity campaign” car, also the chromium strips are carefully painted in. On the front grille, the typical Alfa emblem is finely detailed, and the model really breathes the same character as the original MiTo.
Mondo Motors...
The model car manufacturer (website www.mondomotors.org) has a preference in the scale of 1/24th at least – for Italian makes. It sports a collection of Fiat 500’s for example, from the 500 D to the Nuova 500. For Alfa, it has besides the MiTo also the 159 Station wagon version.
It offers the Abarth Grande Punto SS, some very nice Lamborghini’s like the Miura P 400 S, but also the Lambo Reventon. The Maserati Gran Turismo is equally a gem.
It also offers some scale models as kits, and has also a very comprehensive international WCR collection on both 1/18 and 1/32 scale.
The interior is cast in a monocolour plastic mould, but is quite well detailed...
Italian makes are again celebrated on 1/43 scale, but the selection of makes is more diverse on 1/64th scale.
Mondo Motors It has also 1/18 scale models of motorbikes, and sports virtually the complete BMW collection. Interesting is also their collection on Grand Prix Motorbikes, the Honda RC 211 V and the Ducati Desmosedici for example.
The typical Alfa "aura" is very well worked out...
We hope to present you some of their fantastic models in the classic rally collection on 1/18th scale, like the Audi Quattro which Michèle Mouton drove in the San Remo Rallye in 1981…or the Lancia Stratos driven by Sandro Munari in the Monte Carlo rallye edition 1975…
More on this soon in our Model Car columns!
